Exercise & Fitness
Exercise for a healthy mind and body.
Regular exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Research has shown that those who have an active lifestyle are less likely to become ill and have a better quality of life to those who don’t exercise as much. Exercise not only helps with your physical fitness but also your mental health and wellbeing. It can also be used as an effective management tool for Stress and Depression.
It’s important that people of all ages take part in some physical activity. It doesn’t have to be vigorous, it can be implemented into your everyday routine, such as walking. For adults between the age of 19 and 64, it is advised that they should partake in 2 and a half hours a week of moderate aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking. Muscle strengthening is also recommended on two or more days a week that work all major muscle groups (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulder and arms).
Before exercising, it is important to consider steps to stay injury free. Nutrition and hydration play an important role during exercise. Eating the correct nutrients provides fuel that your body needs when exercising, whilst drinking plenty of water helps prevent dehydration. You should consult with your doctor before undertaking any serious exercise regimes.
